Here are 5 ways to help your brain work better. We have so much information thrown at us every day that our brain cannot handle it and needs a break to process it. We think that an app will make it better, but sometimes, you just need to rest and relax. Let me help you find 5 easy ways to tame that overwhelm.
1. Brain Dump
The easiest way to start is a brain dump. Take a piece of paper, or even the notepad app on your phone and put down everything swirling around in your head. Make sure to include everything and anything, no matter how big or how small or how unimportant. If your brain is trying to remember too many things, then it loses the important things. 2. Process the information
Take the information from your brain dump and process it. If it is a task or a note, then add it to your to do list or Evernote or your place for information. If it is something that you do not need anymore, then just forget about it and let that freed part of your brain be happy.
3. Take a Break
Take a walk, a shower/bath or a nap, or even all three is you have the time. When do you usually come up with great ideas or remember something important? My favorite time to do that is during my night shower or my walk after work. Once I stop “thinking”, I tend to come up with ideas or I find that thought that has been in the back of my mind all day. Your brain needs the same breaks that your body needs. When it relaxes, it lets go of the things that it has been holding onto.

Spend 10 minutes on Sunday and 5 minutes every night looking over your week. This allows you to check in on what needs to be done and what has been accomplished. The review of the day helps you feel better about how far you have come and motivates you to take the next step. 5. Get more Sleep
Try to get more sleep. I know that this sounds impossible and sometimes it is, but we need to try. Adding 10 or 15 minutes to your sleep can greatly improve your day and your brain. Lack of sleep can act like a late night out on the town would and cause the same kind of reaction in your brain. Put your phone on the charger 30 minutes to an hour before you want to go to sleep, get ready for bed and read a book or magazine. Most things can wait until the next morning, so let your brain rest overnight and pick it back up tomorrow.
We all need to take a break and help our brain to work better. It does not take a lot of time, special software or anything difficult.
